TREE STUFF… everyone should know

I needed a page where I could write my opinions about tree stuff.  I will make some general and some very specific statements.  I will try to categorize… but its a work in progress so watch for changes.

I welcome input and comments.

I moved to Sacramento and bought a new house 15 years ago. The trees that the builder used were the free trees the city of Sacramento had to offer. The trees were placed in the front yards of the development.
Well 15 years later the roots in everyone yards are traveling horizontal versus vertical. The roots travel for sure accross the grass and curve to follow the least pathway of resistance.

Sooner or later the rootsof my tree will destroy my foundation, plumbing or sewer, and or my concrete driveway if I do not do something soon.

I am afraid that I need to cut this tree down to eliminate future problems. What can I do and how is it best accomplish?

Cutting the tree down is the last option. Talk to a local Certified Arborist about managing the roots before they cause any issues. It will certainly be cheaper to fix or control the problem. Google search for “verify a certified arborist” and a website will come up where you can search for local arborists. You can also call the Sacramento Tree Foundation who can help you out.
Good luck and let me know if you need more
